Iowa State Legislative leader Linda Upmeyer along with State Senator Bill Dix spoke at the West Side Conservative Club meeting at the Machine Shed in Urbandale today prior to the start of the legislative session on Monday morning.
 
Upmeyer says lawmakers should be ready for a focused and efficient session, and continue the work of responsible budgeting, she says there were important policy changes last year and now is the time to work and not tinker.
 
Meanwhile State Senator Dix says he was disappointed in the outcome of last years property tax bill, he says the need for development incentives is a symptom of an uncompetitive tax code in Iowa.
