Immigrant Allies of Marshalltown will host an introductory informational meeting with 1000 Kids for Iowa on Wednesday, September 3 at 6 p.m. in the large meeting room at the Marshalltown Public Library.

Spokeswoman Joa Laville says 1000 Kids for Iowa has been working in Iowa communities where residents are concerned about the recent humanitarian crisis of refugee children who have recently entered the U.S. from Central American countries. The effort, a project of the Eychaner Foundation, focuses on helping communities to mobilize support and services to help care for refugee children.

The meeting will focus on exploring networks of people to connect with in Marshalltown and how to begin an organizing plan to move the effort forward and mobilize those who share concerns about the safety and well-being of these children.

For more information about the project, please visit 1000 Kids for Iowa or call Jessica Brackett at 515-333-1166.
