FAIRFIELD, Iowa (AP) — An organization in southeast Iowa that practices meditation has provided more details about an incident involving a group that allegedly attacked a car with a county sheriff inside.

Global Country of World Peace says in a statement that a group of people known as pandits were involved in the Tuesday morning incident after becoming upset that a pandit was being removed for internal disciplinary reasons from the campus near Fairfield.

The Jefferson County Attorney's Office says Sheriff Gregg Morton's car was pushed back and forth, and rocks were thrown. No injuries were reported in the incident, which officials say involved dozens of people.

The group says no similar incident has occurred in the program's seven-year history. An internal review is being conducted. Morton has said no charges are pending.
