Marshalltown to Host Art Walk

by KIX101.1/ 1230 KFJB News Department posted Oct 2 2013 4:07PM
The streets of Marshalltown will be open to art lovers tomorrow night as the Downtown Art Walk is set to take place. According to Mary Giese, of the Marshalltown Art and Culture Alliance, says that there some thing for everyone.

Giese says that there will be 20 artists from the area who will be located in 20 different businesses throughout the walk. Giese hopes that that partnership with the Marshalltown Central Business District will help people who are going to participate, not only become aware of local artists, but also familiarize themselves with the different local businesses that they may have never visited before.

And they have made it easy to know what businesses will have an artist as Giese says, "One thing that is kind of fun is, we have purchased some little green, plastic, human figures that will be place outside of each participating businesses." She hopes this will make it easier for people to identify the stores participating in the Art Walk.

Local restaurants will also have specials to go along with the Art Walk and Giese hopes that people will them make a whole night with it.

The walk also coincides with the last Downtown Marshalltown Farmer's Market of the season. The Farmer's Market and Walk will begin at 4:30 p.m. and go until 7:30 p.m.
