A Podiatrist with offices in Marshalltown and Newton has been suspended by the Iowa Board of Podiatry.

Timothy Harold Smith stands accused of utilizing narcotics from

his patients.

The Board put out notice that letting him continue to practice podiatry would constitute an immediate danger to public health, safety and welfare.

A document put out alleges that Smith told patients their copays would be waived if they would give him some of their pain medication prescription.

The document indicates that Smith denied such allegations at first but then said he had been doing such a thing.

It was also reported that the Board found out that Smith had gone to MMSC under the influence of Oxycodone and was given Narcan and had to be revived.

A hearing on the matter will be held on Des Moines on September 15th.
