Marshalltown`s School Board met on Monday. The School Board heard of changes being made to the Extended Learning Program from Director of Special Services, Matt Cretsinger. The program will now operate under the name of XLP. Three hundred students are served by five instructors. The school board felt this was not adequate. The Board also heard a report about the Food Service Program in the school district. Director, Lynn Large says the Summer Feeding Program served 656 kids per day in June and 499 kids per day so far in the month of July. Large says the majority of the feeding sites will serve for the last time this Friday. She also talked about the regular Food Services Program, stating that because of an ingredient health mandate from the federal government they have struggled to find a cookie recipe for students. She also said that students also wanted more tamales on the menu. Large also said that only 50 percent of Senior High Students participate in getting hot lunches and more ways are being looked for to engage them. In other news School Board passed a resolution for the final acceptance and closing final project costs for the Roundhouse Refurbishment Project.
