Marshalltown School Board awards bid for Roundhouse Renovation Project.

The Marshalltown School Board on Monday awarded a bid to do the work on Phase One of a renovation project for the Roundhouse.

The Board awarded the bid to Dean Synder Construction of Ankeny who bid 7,922,500 to do the work expected to begin later this year, Superintendent Dr.Marvin Wade says the Roundhouse will be closed after graduation in the spring and then the work is supposed to be done by December of 2014.

In other school board news they approved the sale of 10 million dollars worth of bonds to help pay for construction projects going on.

A certified enrollment figure of 5.383 was submitted to the Iowa Department of Education, that is 75 more students than last year.

The Marshalltown School District found out late Monday afternoon that the district is one of 10 demonstration sites for the Iowa Community Based Education Collaborative, Doctor Susan Pecinovsky gave the news to school board about the development, it is a competency based education initiative in partnership with the State Department of Education.
