-One thing for another week, after exceeding the expected amount, the chip and seal project on Hilltop Drive has been postponed. The Council, City, and the Construction Company are still working to find an economical and effective way to pave the almost 3 miles that needs work done.
-Both the Marshalltown Police and Fire Department renewed their protection agreement with the Iowa Veterans Home.
-A hanger at the Marshalltown Municipal Airport is getting a new cement/paved floor. As opposed to the gravel on that is currently in place. The bid on that with Day Construction Services LLC is almost $260,000.
-Jenny Etter with the Marshalltown Central Business District says the organization plans on holding their usual events like The Art Walk, Holiday Stroll, etc. However, the Latino Festival has been canceled this year due to lack of volunteers. The money that had been donated by a couple local organizations, including JBS, will now be donated to St. Mary's Hispanic Ministries.
-The city also approved the purchase of three 2014 Chevy Caprice's for the Police Department.
