It's the Power of the Purse

by KIX101.1/ 1230 KFJB News Department posted Oct 11 2013 11:06AM
The United Way Campaign is underway and one of their biggest fundraisers is coming up. And for people who love a good handbag and helping a good cause you will want to succumb to the Power of the Purse according to Nancy Steveson. There are so many different purses to choose from, Steveson says, including:
  • Coach
  • Marc Jacobs
  • Ivana Trump
  • Jennifer Lopez
  • Vera Bradley

And those were just to name a few. "These have all been donated by local businesses and individuals," says Steveson. And some purses will have other prizes within. "We have lasik eye surgery with a purse from Wolfe Clinic." Steveson adds a vacation package as well saying, "We have Disney tickets, for the Florida area."

And there is one extra special prize you can get entered for just by walking through the door. Valued at $800, Steveson says, " We have this beautiful purse necklace, from Helberg's, and that will be our grand door prize." She also adds that there will be other door prizes, two leather purses.

Also, each purse will come with a gift certificate to Rainbow car wash. There will be a total of 91 items available during the live and silent auctions. Power of the Purse will take place the evening of Wednesday, October 16th at 6:00 PM.

You can pick up your tickets at HyVee, Willards, or at the United Way office. Steveson does warn that they only had about 20 tickets left and they were not going to be selling them at the door of the event.
