If you’re looking to do something outside of the box this Valentines Day and want to recreate a bit of movie magic, the Orpheum Theater in Downtown Marshalltown has an event for you according to Lindsey Van Wyk.
“Enchantment Under the Sea, it’s a direct take off of the dance at the end of Back to the Future.”
It’s a two-part party to celebrate an 80’s movie classic.
“And we’re showing Back to the Future starting at 7:00 pm. And then, there’s a Valentine’s Social in the Black Box Theater from 9:00 to 11:00 pm.”
She says the idea came to her one day while watching TV.
“I saw Back to the Future when I was flipping through the channels and Michael J. Fox was playing ‘Johnny B Good’ on the stage, and I thought, ‘Boy, wouldn’t that be sort of a fun event to do.”
And it’s not just about recreating and reminiscing about the one scene from the movie. It’s also about experiencing the magic of the silver screen.
“With older movies like that, you just don’t have the opportunity to watch them on a movie screen, which is what they were made to be watched on. So, it’s fun to see them in a larger format.”
Tickets for “Back to the Future” and “Enchantment Under the Sea” Dance go on sale Monday. You can get more information by calling the theater at 641-844-5921. Tickets will be 10-dollars.
If you can’t make it Friday, they will also be showing the movie and Saturday as well at 1:00, 3:00, and 7:00.
