TOLEDO, Iowa (AP) — An Iowa woman has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the stabbing death of her daughter-in-law.
Ginger Jefferson was given the mandatory sentence Monday in Tama County District Court for the September death of Kerry O'Clair-Jefferson. Jurors convicted her of first-degree murder in May.
O'Clair-Jefferson's husband, Dustin Jefferson, also faces a first-degree murder charge in the case. Prosecutors say he either killed or helped kill his wife. He is scheduled to go on trial later this year.
Ginger Jefferson will pay more than $150,000 in restitution to O'Clair-Jefferson's estate. She made no comment during her sentencing hearing.
