Groups: 7 arrested in Iowa after drones protest

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Protesters say seven people have been arrested in Des Moines following an anti-war gathering opposing the use of drones.

The Des Moines Veterans for Peace and the Des Moines Catholic Workers say the seven people arrested Monday outside the Iowa Air National Guard base face a simple misdemeanor of criminal trespass. They have been released on their own recognizance.

This marks the groups' second protest in days. A similar event Saturday was held at the same location.

The protesters oppose remotely piloted aircraft known as drones. They say their use for military strikes dehumanize victims of war. Defense analysts say drones are the future of warfare.
