Hobby Lobby Stores, a national retail chain of crafts and home decor stores, has announced it has signed a lease to open a store in Marshalltown.
Assistant Vice President of Advertising John Schumacher says construction and renovation is set to begin soon on a 55,000 square-foot building, formerly occupied by Menards, located at 2500 S. Center Street in the Marshall Town Center.
Hobby Lobby currently has 14 stores in Iowa.
The Marshalltown store is projected to open in 2015, bringing about 35 to 50 jobs to the community paying $15 per hour for full time and $10 per hour for part-time associates.
The parent company is based in Oklahoma City and dates originally back to the year 1970 and operates 600 stores in the U-S. David Green founded the company.
Ken Huge of the Marshall Town Center says they are very pleased with the news and look forward to progress with the Hobby Lobby Development.
