by KIX101.1/ 1230 KFJB News Department posted Oct 17 2013 10:25AM

A fire in Grinnell broke out last night at Malcom Lumber and hardware. It’s believed the fire began just after 10:00 PM. Grinnell Fire Chief Daniel Sicard says the department was notified that there was a structure fire. When they arrived on the scene, firefighters saw a fire in the hardware section of the building and saw signs of fire coming from the front window.

Five different departments helped fight the flames and It’s estimated that 26 firefighters helped to extinguish the fire and keep it from spreading to the lumber portion of the store. Other departments that aided Grinnell last night: Gilman, Kellogg, Malcom, and Brooklyn.
