Primary elections were held Tuesday in Iowa. State Senator Joni Ernst won a 5 way race to get on the ballot in November on the Republican side of the U-S Senate race to replace the retiring Tom Harkin. Congressman Bruce Braley will be the Democratic Candidate on November 4th. For First District U-S House Pat Murphy won on the Democratic side, Rod Blum on the Republican side. None of the Republican candidates for 3rd District U-S House got enough votes to make it to the November ballot and the nominee will be chosen at a State Convention at a date and time to be announced. In Marshall County for Republican Board of Supervisor, incumbent Dave Thompson got the most votes out of four candidates in the race, Bill Patten of rural Clemons finished 2nd and will also get on the ballot in November, they will face Democrat Sue Blaisdell.
