DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Des Moines Public Schools has announced its five schools will remain with the Central Iowa Metropolitan League — Iowa's largest big-school activities conference.
At least eight schools had discussed earlier this week breaking away from Central Iowa Metropolitan League. But many of the schools had backed off that suggestion by Friday.
The Des Moines Public Schools announced Friday in a news release that its five members — East, Hoover, North, Lincoln and Roosevelt — would remain in the CIML at least through the 2015-16 school year.
The Register says the Des Moines schools and those in Marshalltown, Indianola and Ottumwa had mulled creating their own conference as a way to better govern their own sports and other activities.
