WINDSOR HEIGHTS, Iowa (AP) — The Des Moines suburb of Windsor Heights has dropped its lawsuit over traffic cameras.
The city was challenging the Iowa Department of Transportation's refusal to allow certain automated traffic cameras in Windsor Heights. The city sued in November 2012.
City attorney Matt Brick says the decision to drop the lawsuit was prompted by the department's new rules governing the use of such cameras.
Police Chief Dennis McDaniel says the lawsuit dismissal signals for now that the city won't pursue putting speed cameras on Interstate 235.
