Good Morning Kix Country!
It seems like every time I write a long blog post about my fitness journey, I am confessing my overeating sins. Well, this time is no different. This summer has been a giant brick wall blocking my progress and stopping me in my tracks. It is hard to bust through a giant brick wall made out of chocolate and bacon wrapped things on a stick (not blaming anyone here). I felt that the only way through it was to eat my way through. I did. I ate it all. Everything that crossed my path. There were other paths that I could have walked, but I kept going down the one paved with pastries because I was busy, stressed and that is how I typically deal with both of those things.
Well, we are through summer. Autumn is always a good time for me to refocus. Last year at this time I got into boxing really seriously and was on a really solid eating and exercise schedule. I made some progress, but still not what I wanted to see. This year I am going to get even more help. The resources available at the Marshalltown YMCA YWCA are incredible including the Diabetes Prevention Program. It is a 16 week course that is just full of really good and useful information on how to manage diet and exercise together to maintain a healthy blood sugar level and help lose weight.
The Marshalltown Y is offering this program to the public (You don’t have to be a member) for a special price for this class only (beginning October 4th). Contact Heidi Draisey for more information and to get registered!
