Century Old Business- Owner Speaks to Community

by KIX101.1/ 1230 KFJB News Department posted Oct 15 2013 5:07PM
In today’s economy it is amazing that four local Marshalltown businesses have reached, and gone beyond, the century mark. One of those is Hellberg’s Jewelers and owner Vic Hellberg will be speaking during the Marshall County Historical Society’s History on Third Thursday. And he has his family’s story to tell.
In his power point presentation, Hellberg tells the story of how his Great-Grandfather started the business. "My great-grandfather was and immigrant from Sweden," Hellberg says, "and he had a very interesting story, I explain, of arriving into Marshalltown and starting his business here."
And the business has a long family lineage. Hellberg says that the business has been run by three different generations. And Hellberg insures, "it's a pretty interesting story."
You can hear Vic Hellberg’s story when he presents on Thursday night at 6:30 at the Marshall County Historical Society at 202 East Church Street.
