The Iowa Cubs beat the Memphis Redbirds Sunday by the score of 7-2.
The four game set between the two was split at two games each, Iowa winning the last two games 13-0 and 7-2. Iowa with a record of 2-2 opens a road set at New Orleans Monday nightat 6pm Iowa time, New Orleans is 1-3.

Marshalltown lost in girls soccer at Leonard Cole Field Thursday night by the score of 3-0. The Bobcats slipped to 0-2 in the season. Weather conditions were, rainy cold and windy. A goal that would have equalized the match for Marshalltown at 1-1 was disallowed by the officials.

The Chicago Cubs won their first game of the year on Wednesday shutting out the
Cardinals 2-0 at Wrigley Field. Jake Arrietta was the winning pitcher. The Cubs
scored their 2 runs in the 7th inning, it was a cold wet day at Wrigley. The teams
split a scehduled 3 game series, each by shut out, one game was postponed.

Alabama will introduce new basketball coach Avery Johnson at a news conference on Wednesday.

A person with knowledge of the negotiations says Johnson is receiving a six-year contract worth about $2.8 million annually plus incentives.

Johnson has had stints as an NBA head coach with the Dallas Mavericks and the Nets franchise.

The Connecticut Huskies are NCAA women's basketball champions for the 10th time, all under head coach Geno Auriemma (aw-ree-EH'-muh). Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis and Moriah Jefferson each scored 15 points as the Huskies earned a 63-53 triumph over Notre Dame. Auriemma tied UCLA's John Wooden for the most NCAA basketball championships.

Denny Hamlin passed teammate Matt Kenseth for the lead with 28 laps to go and went on to end Toyota's 32-race winless streak in the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Martinsville Speedway.

The driver for Joe Gibbs Racing held off a five-lap, bumper-to-tail challenge from Brad Keselowski for his 25th career victory and his fifth at the smallest and oldest track in the premier series.

Pole sitter Joey Logano finished third, followed by Matt Kenseth and David Ragan.

The race also ended Kevin Harvick's streak of top-two finishes at eight, three shy of Richard Petty's record. Harvick finished eighth.

Duke and Michigan State have advanced to the NCAA Final Four and will face each other next Saturday before Kentucky takes on Wisconsin. Justise Winslow drained a pair of 3-pointers down the stretch and finished with 16 points as top seed Duke beat Gonzaga 66-52 to win the South Region. Travis Trice paced the Spartans with 17 points and Denzel Valentine added 15 in a 76-70 overtime win against Louisville.

The Iowa Wild lost to the Texas Stars at home at the Wells Fargo Arena Monday night by the score of 4-3. Iowa had a 2-0 lead in the second period only to see the Stars score three tallies by the end of the second frame. The Stars added a fourth goal thenIowa scored to get the deficit to one but were not able to equalize before time ran out.Iowa is now 21-41-1-2 on the American Hockey League season.
