~ ALTOONA, Iowa (AP) - The ethanol and biodiesel industries are taking center stage in Altoona at the 8th annual Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit where experts will talk about the future of the industry and new innovations in the fuel and car engines that can burn it.

The industry was dealt a blow by Environmental Protection Agency when the government recently announced a proposed reduction by nearly 3 billion gallons the amount of biofuels required to be blended into gasoline this year.

Gov. Terry Branstad, who has led an effort to overturn the EPAs proposal, is scheduled to talk Tuesday morning about the importance of biofuels to Iowa's economy.

Among other speakers, Chrysler official Reg Modlin will talk about engine technology and how it's influenced by the used of biofuels.
