3rd International Jean Seaburg Film Festival to Offer New Experiences

by KIX101.1 /1230 KFJB News Department posted Nov 7 2013 2:45PM
It’s time once again for the 3rd annual international Jean Seaburg film festival. Shannon Mitchell from the Orpheum Theater says there are big things in store for the weekend.

"Well, this year the highlight of the entire festival is the world premier of the Emmy nominated documentary from filmmakers Kelly and Tammy Rundel and Gary McGee," Mitchell says, "that movie is Movie Star: the Secret Lives of Jean Seaburg."
And Mitchell emphasized this is the first time “Movie Star” has been screened to the public and that brings great meaning to this festival. The film about the Marshalltown native, is the first one that focuses on the private life of the actress.
It will be a full weekend for festival goers when it comes to the films being shown.

"We are actually showing eight of her films," says Mitchell, " four that we've never shown here at the Orpheum before, and four that we have shown."
Mitchell does say you do have to pay to see the films, but there are a few free events for anyone who wants to learn about Seaburg. This incudes two symposiums and a round table which are open to the public, with no ticket necessary.

Events that you do need to pay for include a $5.00 charge for each screening of a Seaburg film. There will be an $8.00 charge for those who wish to see the documentary. But, if you do choose to see the Movie Star documentary on opening night, you will receive the red carpet treatment. For $25.00 you will be able to participate in the premier, as well as the premier party.

The whole festival takes place on November 15th, 16th, and 17th.
