A Beaman man is among seven “Heroes Of The Heartland” to be honored by the Iowa Region of the American Red Cross.

Hoss Tompkins helped save a co-worker who had a heart attack while driving a fork lift. Tompkins couldn’t get the man to the ground, so he did chest compressions. Once co-workers helped get the man to the floor, Tompkins continued giving CPR for 20 minutes, and also used an AED. Doctors credit Tompkins with saving the man’s life. Tompkins and the other recipients will honored at a breakfast March 28th at the Iowa Events Center.
