The State Senate took the recommendations of Governor Kim Reynolds towards making cuts to the state budget for this fiscal year…and then added to it.
The bill that passed a subcommitee yesterday calls for 50 million dollars in cuts to the budget than ends in June. Most of the cutting would come at the expense of the three state universities and community colleges.
The bill does not call for any cuts to k through 12 education or Medicaid. It would also impact the court system, prisons and the Department of Human Services. The bill could go before the full Senate next week.
