Flu Related Deaths Rising

The flu continues to result in deaths around the Hawkeye State, especially among the elderly. The Iowa Department of Public Health reports eight more flu-related deaths in the last week. Since October first, 14 deaths have blamed on the influenza. The average age of those dying is 85.

With the flu affecting so many, some facilities, such as Mary Greeley Medical center in Ames, have started restricting visitors in certain areas. Mary Greeley says folks coming to see patients in Birthways, Pediatrics and Neonatal ICU will be limited to parents, grandparents and siblings.
