A fire at a Grinnell repair shop sent the owner of the shop to the hospital, while his business suffered an estimated 500-hundred thousand dollars in damage.

Firefighters were called to a tire fire at Morrison Repair Shop in rural Grinnell yesterday afternoon. The heavy black smoke combined with windy conditions enabled the fire to spread quickly. Owner Ron Morrison received burns to his face while trying to get tractors out of the out building. The fire spread from a burn being conducted by Jasper Construction at the rear of the property.
