On Friday, December 02, 2016 Marshalltown Police Department arrested Susan Kaye Lurvey, 46, of Marshalltown in conjunction with three arson fires that occurred at 202 E. State Street between October 15, 2016 and November 24, 2016.On October 15, 2016, Ms. Lurvey intentionally damaged a vehicle parked behind 202 E. State Street. After damaging the vehicle, Ms. Lurvey set the car on fire.
On October 25, 2016, Ms. Lurvey intentionally damaged another vehicle parked behind 202 E. State Street. On November 23, 2016, Ms. Lurvey set this vehicle on fire.
On November 24, 2016, Ms. Lurvey set a fire in a hallway inside the apartment building located at 202 E. State Street.
Ms. Lurvey has been charged with the following:
- Arson in the 1st Degree (Class B Felony)
- 2 counts of Arson in the 2nd Degree (Class C Felonies)
- Extortion (Class D Felony)
- 2 counts of Criminal Mischief 4th Degree (Serious Misdemeanor)
- Harassment 3rd Degree (Simple Misdemeanor)
Ms. Lurvey is being held in the Marshall County Jail and bond has been set at $52,000.
