The Marshalltown City Council on Monday heard a proposal to put up some security cameras from the Crime Stoppers group. Mike Schesinger spoke on behalf of Crime Stoppers and proposed that a joint effort be made to raise money to put up 9 cameras in three locations, those being the viaducts on South Sixth Street, Center Street and North Third Street. Representatives of Raycom were on hand and talked about a security camera program in Dubuque that started out small and grew over the course of time. Mayor Jim Lowrance says he appreciated the presentation and said council would take the idea up come budget time. The group also plans to speak to the County Board of Supervisors.
