The Marshalltown Police Department is searching for a suspect in a shooting case that took place on Saturday afternoon in a neighborhood just north of downtown. Police Chief Michael Tupper says it happened a little before four p-m in the 100 Block of North Center Street. A man identified as 47 year old Dustin Inman was shot and suffered from non life threatening injuries and was taken to Central Iowa Health Care where he was treated and released. Meanwhile Police sent out their Tactical Team and the Crisis Negotiation team and also several officers and help was received from the State Center Police Department and the Marshall County Sheriff`s Department. An area between State and Grant Streets was blocked off. Gawkers were told to stay away however there was considerable traffic along State Street in that locale and people watched from the steps of City Hall nearby. By Sunday morning the blockade had been removed. Nearby residents including those at the Grant Street Apartments were told to stay in their residences for safeties sake. The suspect in the case is identified as 45 year old Perry Dewalt of Marshall who was initially believed to be in a residence in the area of the shooting. Dewalt is wanted on charges of Attempted Murder and Going armed with intent.
