A Marshalltown Police Department vehicle was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Memorial Day morning at West Church and South Ninth Streets. The police vehicle was a Chevy Caprice and Officer Dane Bowermaster recieved citations for failure to obey a stop sign and failing to yield the right of way. The Iowa State Patrol investigated the accident. Officer Bowermaster complained of aches and pains but did not seek hospitalization. The other driver was identified as 49-year-old Juanita Buffington of Marshalltown who was in an SUV. She had to be taken to Central Iowa Healthcare for treatment. The accident happened at 5:00 a.m. and it was raining at the time.
