I am looking at a blank screen with two things on my mind so I think I may touch on both of them. The first country is not country anymore….I have been in country radio for a very long time. I read of a time that Marty Robbins was not country because he brought brass horns to be played on the Grand Ole Opry Stage. There have been many “firsts” since that time.  Everything that changes stays the same, I have seen many changes in country music. In the early 80’s there was pop/country with Earl Thomas Conley  teaming up with Anita Pointer of the Pointer Sisters and of course all the Kenny Rogers/Dolly Parton duets. I went crazy myself over the new bluegrass sound that was appearing thanks to Ricky Skaggs!!In 1981 George Strait also came on the scene then came Randy Travis. Country music goes in circles even though there are some songs you might not think are country the next one may make you think there is hope yet.

The next subject on my mind is the passing of Joey Feek. I have been reading her husband’s blog posts and was touched by their love for each other and their faith in God. I was reading some of posts of country artists on her passing and two really spoke to me “completely inspired by the way she lived every minute. Full of love and life…” that from Kimberly Perry of the Band Perry and this one from Brandy Clark “I am saddened by the passing of Joey Feek, but inspired by the “for better or worse” that she and Rory Feek have shown us all…..”

I have the link to Rory’s blog here
