Due to a death in the family of two of the performers, last Sunday's show was canceled. They will be adding a matinee show in October 27th at 2:00 PM. Tickets from the Sunday, October 19, will be honored at the new performance. You may also exchange your ticket for available dates. You can reach the box office at (641) 752-4164.**
A production of the play “Noises Off” will start it’s run tomorrow at the Martha Ellen Tye Playhouse. Director Rick Gooding says in good sprits it’s a pretty ‘tacky’ play. "Well, it's a really funny comedy farce, "Gooding says, "about a tacky theater company in England, putting on a tacky play."
Through the acts you see the progression of the characters relationship from the last rehearsal to six months into the tour, Gooding says. The set flips back an fourth from in front of the stage to what is taking place backstage as the acts progress. That way, the audience sees all facets of the theater company.
With the nine person cast they show, "a backstage look at what's happening, so theater, but this is really bad theater," Gooding said. But the bad theater, is not in reference to his cast.
"Noises Off" will begin playing at the Martha Ellen Tye Playhouse starting October 18, at 7:30PM. It will also show on the evenings of October 19, 25, and 26, at 7:30. A matinee will also be held on October 20, at 2:00 PM. Gooding says the show runs about 2.5 hours.
